Theory 5: Nothing Ever Returns Backward
From a physics perspective, the second law of thermodynamics supports this idea directly: entropy in closed systems always increases. The arrow of time points in a single direction and is irreversible. While the fundamental equations of physics are themselves time-reversible, real natural processes are not.
Philosophically, Heraclitus observed that "no one steps into the same river twice." This proposition aligns with the philosophical concept of becoming, of continuous change, and Islamic philosophy likewise emphasizes that events never repeat in exactly the same way.
From a modern scientific perspective, some processes at the quantum level can appear quasi-reversible, but at the macroscopic scale, a full return to a prior state is effectively impossible. Even if similar conditions are recreated, they are never truly identical to what came before.
