Theory 3: Stillness Would Mean the Annihilation of Existence Itself

This theory connects to deep philosophical and scientific ideas, and can be examined from several angles.

In Islamic philosophy, Avicenna (Ibn Sina) explored the link between motion and existence, and Mulla Sadra's theory of substantial motion holds that motion is intrinsic to being itself, meaning absolute stillness is simply not possible for anything that exists.

Modern physics agrees: Heisenberg's uncertainty principle rules out absolute rest, and even at absolute zero, the lowest possible temperature, particles still carry a form of quantum motion. A state of true zero energy would in fact contradict the principles of quantum mechanics.

In cosmology, the continuous expansion of the universe shows that motion and change are intrinsic features of the cosmos; without this ongoing expansion, galaxies and stars could never have formed in the first place.

Taken together, the idea that absolute stillness is equivalent to annihilation is defensible on both scientific and philosophical grounds, since motion and change are essential conditions for the existence of matter and energy.
